UVU Advisor Issues

Did you guys know that advisors can be a really big pain in the butt! Bascially at the end of spring semester '10 I thought I had all that I needed for my Associates degree in Behavioral Science. Well after talking to my advisor she said that I needed one more class and that I should take some dance class or something like that and those are only 1 credit. So I took a music class this semester and was planning to transfer it to UVU and then get my associates and transfer that back to USU. Well after asking my advisor about my credits she said I had enough for a Associates in Integrated Studies. I was confused so I started looking stuff up and the graduation planner thing and I looked up both the integrated studies and the behavioral sceince degree. Well witht the integrated studies it didn't use some of my classes from UVU and only some from USU one of which was NOT the music class. I then looked at the behavioral science degree and it didn't even use any of the USU credit/classes and still had 100% completion. WHAT!!!! so needless to say that I had my associates and didn't need to go through all the extra crap that I did becaus of the Advisor didn't know what she was talking about. GRRR.

So now I have applied for my graduation/degree and will have the new transcript sent over to USU so hopefully it will take off a couple general courses that USU requires that UVU doesn't. SO.. hopefully I will be closer to getting my bachelors!! YAY, even though it is still going to be a while before I get it.

I'm at least glad that it was only one class that I didn't need instead of an intire semester or more of waisted time. It really could have been alot worse that what it was. I'm just glad that I am one step closer to finishing and I will have something to show for my efforts soon. I'm also glad that my advisor at USU is better and actually looks into stuff before telling me things. I'm really glad that I will be working with him instead of the one over at UVU.
