All But Done.. Bathroom Remodel

I really have to say remodeling a bathroom in a older house is a pain. Like I probably said before we ran into problems after problems but I am very happy to say that we are basically done. All we need to do is finish off the sink, (basically attach it to the vanity) put the trim around the door, window, and floor, and just some little odds and ends. We are probably going to put in a wall cabinet but I need Skyeler to come help me since I know if he does it everything will be straight. And I really don't know where to put it, I just know it would be a good idea to put it up so we can have a little more storage space.

Tonight I was able shower in our shower for the first time and I have now moved everything out from the upstairs bathroom. YAY. But anyway I hope you guys like the photos! I know I do and I am very happy with how things turned out. It just took a lot of hard work, 1.5 months, and A LOT of patience. I think everything tied in together very well.

Doesn't it look AMAZING!!

So Excited...

I am so excited that I can hardly contain my excitement. I just got an email from the LDS casting and Skyeler made the first cut!!!! Basically that means out of the 2,702 people from Utah, other places in the United States, Canada, Europe and South America he got picked for a possible Extra or Feature extra!! It's not a main speaking part but this is BIG. Extras are paid but they are still not sure how much so that is even better.

The email mentions that they like the way he looked and that he will be receiving more emails about his schedule in June and July, his measurements, and various needs. So depending on all that it could make it so he is part of the film or not. But I know Skyeler would do anything to be part of this film and so I really really think that he will. At least I really really hope he is. So all extra prayers every now and again would be awesome.

I know you guys won't be quite as excited as I am and I need to keep in mind that it is only the first cut and doesn't mean that it is final that he is in it but still. 2,700 people is a lot of people who auditioned. I'm so excited and proud.

Where Did The Lights Go?

Last night Skyeler and I needed to run to Wal-Mart at around 11 pm so we could try to find an empty spray bottle so we can get rid of that nasty popcorn texture that is on the air duct in the bathroom. Well as we were wandering around we couldn't find anything. So Sky felt he needed to go check out his electronic stuff that he checks out every time we go there and as we were leaving BZZzzz ALL the lights in Wal-mart were off, and then shortly after the emergency lights come back on. IT WAS SOOOO COOL. The store has recently been going through some remodeling and so we got a little lost and we were just wandering around trying to find a spray bottle. We were using my Duck key-chain that lights up and quacks. I'm sure that all of wal-mart could hear this quack quack quack quack as were were trying to use the light.

We kept looking around and Sky called his dad to see if the power was out at the house. Yes it was, and his dad said that ALL of Richfield had no power and that we should pick up some candles. So off to the candle isle. I think they moved that isle but good thing we had our friend Ryan C. (that I went to elementary school with) works there to show us where everything was. Well after wandering around and listening to all the wind that was outside we decided that it was time to go. Good thing a couple of registers were on back up power so we managed to pay for our stuff.

As we were walking outside everything was black. Completely black, except for our wonderful full moon. It really helped out since we were able to find our car and etc.. Well as we were going through town it was so weird to see everything just pitch black with only a few stores on back up. Then I realized that my grandma and aunt are both on oxygen. I called Kathy to make sure she was ok. Med alert had called Steve and Holly to inform them of the power outage so they were just getting there to hook up the travel oxygen. Then we were about to center so we turned left and went to grandma's and good thing I had found my extra keys that had her house key on it. I went in and I told grandma that the power was out and that we needed to get her other oxygen. She was glad that I was there to help her out especially since her travel O2 was in the closet in the living room so I went and check everything out and changed the tanks so it didn't run out and got her new nasal things and made sure she had everything and went home.

Chris has some candles going so we didn't walk into pitch blackness. Funny thing is when I went to take Ezio out, because of the full moon it was lighter outside than it was in our house. Weird. But we managed and I got into our 72 hr kit that I'm in the process of making and grabbed our head light and that helped a TON.

Since Skyeler and I had been working on our bathroom (we had been mudding and sanding the drywall) prepping the area so we can texture we were COVERED with drywall dust when we had left to go to the store. At this time it was getting close to 1 am and I was getting tired and I really wanted a shower. Ever tried to shower at night during a power outage? Well anyway I grabbed the head light and put it on the shower shelf and I managed to have a enjoyable shower during this time of darkness. :)

After my shower I was able to read my Kindle and get further in my AWESOME and AMAZING book. Around 1:45 am the power came back on and life has continued to go on. YAY! I'm not exactly sure what caused the power outage but I think it was ONLY Richfield because if you looked south from the wal-mart parking lot (which is at the very south part of town) the lights were on going into Elsinore. I really have to say having the entire town lose it's power was kinda fun and interesting. Especially when you're in Wal-mart!

Bathroom Remodel Pics

Since I figured out how to get the pics from my phone to the computer here are some remodel pics if anyone really wanted to see what exactly we have been doing. I really don't know if many people read this besides Alex.

This Pic is of bathroom before we realized that putting a new floor in would be better. The wall that is by the window was basically sheetrock on the cement foundation so we figured we needed to rip it down and put insulation in there.

This one is just another view and you can see where the somewhat Utah shape is and where wyoming would be was where the shower was. You can also see the area that is missing the sheetrock on the wall and that was where the door was. That was basically our bathroom. Small huh. Notice the small little area where there is a floor. That was our walkway to the toilet.

It is sideways I know. But this is when we got the insualtion in. YAY! I was happy about that.

We have some of the sheetrock up obviously and it were about to frame the wall for the tub.

This picture is as of now. We got the tub in and the shower walls up. Just like my other post says. I'm excited for Skyeler to get home so we can put some sheetrock up on the ceiling and the wall behind the tub and by the toilet. Then we can start mudding and once we do that PAINT! I'm so so so so so excited to get the paint up. I just think it is going to look awesome! So we are getting close!

Ezio

The past LONG time Skyeler and I have been talking about getting a puppy. (not because Alex and Ryan have two) but because it has been really hard for me living in Richfield and in someones elses house. Yes I am very grateful for the opportunity but there are some serious negative downgrades from going to your own home to someone elses basement. One is just the fact that you go to living your own life with your new family and then kinda being shoved into someone elses family and not having the same responsibilites you once had. Or being in charge of your own life and most of the things around you. But again I am very grateful for the opportunity that we have to be able to get back on our feet. Then I have been feeling quite lonely and depressed since Sky is gone to work 4 days in row every 4 days. I guess I just got really spoiled having him around almost 24-7 when we were in Orem.

So anyway last sunday I went up and got Ezio. He is a cute 4-5 month old Boston Terrier. He is so super cute and full of energy. I wish I could put up a picture but again there is a lack of cords around. SOO frustrating. Anyway I was worried about how Peanut was going to react and we were right about him wanting to attack. But he does that with any new dog or thing that comes close to the home. So I had Ezio in my arms and Peanut was very mean and biting at him and growling and just not happy at all. Well after about 1.5 hrs of sending him outside, putting them face to face, and letting them sniff each others butts Peanut finally realized Ezio wasn't a roadent or skunk and was able to relax and play with him a little. It still took some time for Peanut to really just play and not be totally mean all the time but now it looks like the two of them are best of friends.

Anyway more about Ezio. He is mostly black with white and a few black spots on the white areas. He has a very short coat and so he gets cold very easily and just shakes his back legs when I take him out to go potty. His face is a little squished and so it makes him snore when he sleeps and snorts when playing SOOO FUNNY. Then he has the CUTEST whine ever. So far he loves his crate and it is hard to get him out of it at times just because he just wants to stay in it all day.

I really think that the little puppy has been good for me because I'm not so lonely while Sky is gone (at least the couple days he has been gone since we got him) and I am able to control and train him the way I want him, instead of it being someone elses dog that after I try to train it doesn't stick cause people do what they want with their dog. Totally understandable.

OOH look I got smart and emailed a pic to myself and saved it on the computer. YAY ME!! Anyway I think he is super cute and so much fun. I was wanting to get a girl because i'm the only girl in the house and I felt it would help, but who can pass up an offer of $150 for a puppy when people are asking for $400-600 for them.

Here he is as of now sleeping in his crate face in the blanket and toy rope under his mouth. I find it amazing that he can put his feet all the way up to his face and sleep like that!

Well I hope you think he is super cute. If not oh well I think he is super cute and I love all his silly noises he makes.

Getting close- Bathroom update

After this weekend I feel that we are getting really close to finishing the bathroom. Skyeler and Chris were able to install the tub and walls (walls mostly they are on there just not nailed to anything) and we got all the plumbing done. We would have had that all done last night but since it was 2 or so am and everyone was tired and then finding out the water was opposite we figured we would fix it later. So it is fixed and when Sky gets home from work Thursday morning we will start putting up some more drywall and get some mudding done. Besides just a few walls we need to build a door frame and put in a door and then the mudding, paint, and a few instalations such as the light and vanaty. Basically the more exciting things. YAY!!
