Happy Halloween!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I have to say this year was a lot more fun than any year ever... I think it is only because I have miss Mikena to dress up. Seriously it was a TON of fun. On Wednesday the 30th we went to Bountiful and joined the family at Dad and Kandie's Trunk or Treat. I LOVED IT, it was so fun to show everyone Mikena in her costume. When we got there everyone had already started eating the yummy soups so we hurried and got some. After dinner all the kids were party of a parade to show everyone their costume and I had Mikena walk across the stage along with her cousins!

 After the parade we all went out to the parking lot where the trunk or treat was going to be. In all reality I like trunk or treat better than going around the neighborhoods.

 Once we got home Mikena went STRAIGHT to bed. The next few pictures were her on Halloween and I figured we just had to get some pictures of her in her costume, with her bucket, and candy! She was SOOOO fascinated with all the wrappers and the colors! (obviously she hasn't had candy before). Until yesterday when we let her lick a grape dum dum.

I really did have SO much fun with her even though this is my least favorite holiday. I am excited for the next few months and just enjoying watching Mikena as she experiences these upcoming holidays!

8 Months!

So it is starting to  hit me that we have had Mikena for almost the length of time I was pregnant with her. The difference in time between waiting for her arrival and the time after her arrival is the same but they have felt so different. I was anxious to meet her and looked forward to the day she would arrive. Now time just goes so fast as we look back and see how far we have come.

• Still LOVES her momma.
• Crawling everywhere
• Walking along the couch and wall
• Decided she didn't want to nap anymore. (guess I better work on that again)
• Eats really well and still loves bananas. 
• Gets into EVERYTHING but I lover her.

Mommy play date- womens general conference style

Last week I had a mommy play date with my two friends from the ward that I usually hang out with on a somewhat common basis. Well long story short Brittany is my visiting teacher and she teaches both Aubry and I. So we all like to get together and hang out while our little ones play.

Mikena is 7 months, Adeline is 8.5, and Ryker is 11 months old and they all get along GREAT. It is fun to watch these little ones play and socialize while the mommies need some grown up conversation and craft time. This one we all watched the Women's session of conference while Aubry and Brittany are working on quite books while I was trying to work on my crochet blanket that I'm making for a friend. It is a lot of fun and I am so glad that I have made friends. It really does help having a little one when it comes to starting a conversation.

When it rains it pours.... Literally and figuratively.

You know the saying "you have to experience the bad in order to appreciate the good". Well I really appreciate when things are going in positive directions. 2 weeks ago started a series of bad events... Some are worse than others but I am glad that I can appreciate the experience and enjoy the good times that I have.

Two weeks ago my mom overdosed AGAIN! No surprise there I was telling a few people for quite a while that I am just waiting for it to happen cause it was going to and that I'd give it a few months till she did. Well I hate to say it but I was right. That day started out with me hanging out with a friend and on my way home my step dad calls me telling me the news. He was on his way up from Cedar City where he had been working and he said that things didn't look good and she was going to be life flighted to Utah Valley. The next day Tom, my bro, and I went over to see how things were going and there were some good things and some bad. She wasn't breathing on her own at all and was totally dependent on life support. They were pumping her stomach and was totally unresponsive. We have no idea when she took them or how long she didn't have oxygen going to her brain.
Over the next few days she started to pull out of her daze and things got a little more positive even though we still don't know to what extent the damage is on her body or mind. She is currently in the Psych ward and we have no idea how long she will be there or what will happen next with her. She is in an episode and is still having a hard time knowing reality from delusions. So that was the first to go wrong.

Well the next day after we visited mom a huge storm came in. Skyeler and I were at the hospital and finishing our chat with Tom when a huge gust of wind blew through the open doors and into the hallway where we were at. We decided that we needed to leave asap in order to miss the storm. By the time we got to our car there was a downpour and by the time we got to the street you couldn't see much in front of you due to the wall of water. The gutters were already overflowing and we had to take it slow getting home. When we got home the area in front of our door already had an inch or so of water and it continued to get worse. Long story short our apartment flooded and it wasn't till a few days ago that we got the carpets cleaned and life somewhat organized after that event. Well to an extent. That next Wednesday I had to bust open our front door. It was stuck (it had been repaired before and was already compromised) but needless to say that still hasn't been fixed yet and I am getting a bit upset. Pics of flood and door to arrive later.

So on top of mom, flood, and a busted door, Mikena was being super fussy and it seemed like nothing was working out for us. Luckily all things pass and I hope that life is on the up for a little bit.

7 Months Old

Mikena is 7 months old today!

Mikena:

• Is trying way to hard to grow up. She is trying to stand and LOVES to be on her feet. I will hold her hands and let her walk and she does NOT want to stop. It doesn't matter if you go fast or slow she can keep up.
• Enjoys big people food.
• Crawling on her hands and knees more. (just in the past few days) If she wants to get somewhere fast she will army style it.
• Wears 3-6 month clothes. They are just now starting to fit well and not be super baggy.
• Eyes are still blue!
• Will crawl all over you and try to be right up in your face. 
• Loves to play with her friends.
• Still adorable 

So long story short I need ideas on baby lunches and child proofing. Since Mikena is trying to stand and climb on things it makes me so so so nervous and I feel like I can't sit down. I know that kids will be kids and she will get bumps and bruises but I really want to put her in a bubble and try to make her not have so many.
 Yesterday we went to Krispy Kreams and got our free doughnuts for dressing like a pirate. This was Mikena's outfit. (we borrowed it from a friend)
